The main activity of the project was the international seminar called Animate Yourself! held between the 2nd and the 11th of September 2015. The seminar developed through the project Animate Yourself brought together 45 youth workers for an activity that lasted for 10 days on the theme of training young people in their community as animators for activities with children / young people in holiday centers and beyond. The skills acquired by the young people that will follow the seminar, organized by our participants, can be used during trips with children in school holidays, camps and excursions, in holiday centers and companies, parties and other forms of education of youth and children through active non-formal methods.
The actual activities took place in Durau and Piatra Neamt, Neamt and their main aim is to develop the necessary skills of 45 youth workers over 10 days, to prepare youth workers towards becoming social animators.
Specific objectives of the project:
1. Sharing experiences and best practices in the field of socio-educational animation by the 45 youth workers over 18 years from the 15 participating countries over 10 days.
2. Familiarizing 45 youth workers over 18 years of the 15 participating countries with methods and tools for teaching socio-educational animation to young beneficiaries within 10 days.
During the seminar, there were organised sessions of the theme of the development of a socio-educational animation project, the implementation of socio-educational animation activities, education through the adventure, children and young people development and needs, the situation and the status of animation in every participant country, methods and techniques of socio-educational animation etc.
The participants implemented socio-educational animation activities with children and young people from C. S. Elena Doamna Piatra Neamt and in the centre of Piatra Neamt city.
The participants also promoted socio-educational animation within their visit to Neamt Citadel, organising a few games there.
The street animation was another kind of animation practiced in the seminar; the participants organised a flash mob in Piatra Neamt. In Durau, the participants promoted street animation by organising a living exhibition.
One of the results of the project is a blog on the theme of socio-educational animation; we invite you to read it at the following address: https://animateyourselfseminar.wordpress.com/.
